Property in Shalden

Added on 28th February 2014

Help Spud it is really scary!

Where are you Daisy?

I’m in here hiding!

What on earth are you doing in the cupboard? What is scary Daisy?

This hail, I don’t like it!

No, me neither but at least it is not thunder and lightning yet which is even worse. Let’s try not to think about it and talk about something else like the new house that Wilson Hill has on the market in Shalden in Hampshire.

Oh yes Spud that is a lovely looking house and it has got lots of land with it, some beautiful gardens and then there’s a paddock as well as some woodland and there are stables for horses. I like horses, do you Spud?

Yes Daisy I do quite like horses but what I like even more is to chase sheep and I have been told that there are sheep in the next door field to this house.

Oh Spud, you mustn’t chase sheep – that is very naughty!IMG_3289

I know it is Daisy, Square and Russell always keep me on a lead when there are sheep about.

Well that is good. So what else can you tell me about Marlefield?

Well it is in a lovely position with some spectacular views and all around there are loads of excellent walks. It has a swimming pool which would be great fun for children in the summer and there is lots of space inside the house. It is a really nice family home and I would be very happy curled up by the Aga in the kitchen.

And Russell told me it was only 3 miles from Alton where there are loads of shops and a railway and everything you might need. In fact at the railway you can get on The Watercress Line on an old steam engine like Thomas the Tank Engine which is such a fun day out.

Also for the grown-ups it is not far to Chawton which is where the famous novelist Jane Austen and if you
fancy an aerial view you could always join the Lasham gliding club which is the
national gliding centre

On a more sinister note, did you hear that there was an infamous murder near Shalden in 1867.  A little girl called Fanny Adams was murdered by someone called Frederick Baker, you can read all about it at the Curtis Museum in Alton, it is a bit gruesome and it is where the expression ‘sweet Fanny Adams’ started.

Oooh Daisy that is a bit scary and I have got other notorious stories in and around our area which I can share with you another time.

Exciting – I can’t wait!
